Footnote: I work as a clinical psychologist at the University of California, Davis, Children's Hospital, CAARE Center (a clinic serving foster children within the Sacramento region). The center has over thirty clinicians and five different clinical programs (individual therapy, group therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, child welfare evaluations, and traditional cognitive/developmental/personality evaluations). I am the manager of the individual therapy program which serves approximately two hundred children at any given time. The clinic as a whole maintains a caseload of about 400 children. In addition to these programs there are several other aspects to the clinic. We offer an APA approved psychology internship with specialized training in the assessment and treatment of abused and neglected children, as well as ongoing training of post-doctoral fellows and social work interns. The CAARE Center also functions as a setting for ongoing research, and organizes a regional yearly conference regarding the medical and psychological aspects of assessing and treating abused and neglected children.
